17/100: April Recap

April was a crazy busy month! We traveled a lot and did a lot! It was so fun and I remember it fondly. Here’s what we did:

Phoenix, AZ for Bachelorette

We landed so early! That is what I love about going West! We always take the earliest flight out to maximize the first day! I pulled an all nighter before though, so I was awake for almost 48 hours. I’ll list out everything we did and everywhere we went in another blog post because it was SO MUCH. Here are some highlights!
The girls and guys were all in Scottsdale. The boys were there for the bachelor party, girls were there for the bachelorette!
Went back to the AirBnB- all the girls stayed at one and the guys stayed at another. Ours was the quintessential bachelorette Scottsdale house. We loved the pool and setup and it was so close to everything!
We did so many fun and girlie things! It would make a great girls trip if you’re not going for a bachelorette!
We then drove to Sedona for wedding weekend! We loved the scenic drive from Scottsdale to Sedona!! Highly recommend!

Sedona, AZ for Wedding

I loved their wedding week schedule: bachelorette and bachelor parties were in Scottsdale Monday-Thursday. Thursday, we all drove to Sedona. Rehearsal Thursday night, wedding Friday night, brunch Saturday and fly home! Here’s everything we did while we were there!
Sky Ranch Lodge- This is where we stayed and where the wedding was. We LOVED it! The views were absolutely breathtaking. Most of the wedding stayed here so it was fun and convenient to see everyone!
We unpacked and got ready for the rehearsal dinner.
The Art of Wine- We didn’t have a whole dinner here, but there were great views and the wine was great! The bride and groom had a TON of charcuterie setup and it was a great pairing.
Wedding Day!! All 4 of us, Bianca and her husband, my boyfriend and I were all in the wedding. The boys went to get ready with the groom and Bianca and I hung out and got ready in our room. It is one of our favorite things to do together! Unless one of us ends up in a battle with the eyeliner. Then we went to meet the bride while she got ready and had some champagne! She wanted some private time with family and had to do some things with the photographer, so we went to see the groom and our guys. Was so fun to see everyone before everything started!
The wedding was beautiful. The views, the size, the colors. It was perfect! The reception was so fun! Lots of dancing and their signature drink, The Nelly, after their golden retriever, was my favorite drink: Angry Orchard and Fireball. The next day, we had some time so we walked around Sedona and had a great breakfast! It was an incredible, once-in-a lifetime experience to share with some of our best friends!

Poker Night

We hosted our first poker night with C’s new poker chips! We were teaching games most of the time, but really want to make this a monthly tradition. Just need our people to learn our games.

Costco Baby Shower for Karen

We had our school baby shower for Karen! Costco is the happiest place on Earth to her, so we gave her a Costco themed baby shower! I made a logo, and we played a version of the Price is Right that I made to guess the price of baby products the year she was born and this year, when she is having her first baby! One of our students made prizes, and we laughed nonstop. Love my coworkers so much. It was a huge success and so fun showering her and Baby Jack!

Nostalgia Sabotage

I was reorganizing my closet and came across a ton of sentimental items. Items from my interview for my dream teaching job (my current job), my first year of teaching, and college. I had a complete breakdown seeing all of that and remembering how bright eyed I had been before my career really started. I was in such a negative place in April and it really broke my heart to see how fast it had all happened. More to come on my teaching journey...

Taylor Swift Concert

Do I need to explain?! My friend Katelynn asked me to go with her and I owe her everything!! We got dressed up at my house after school and took Marta (my first time!) to the show. We had the best night screaming at the top of our lungs. Such a full circle moment and so inspiring to watch an artist like her. We saw some of our students, took awesome videos, and had the time of our lives! Truly unforgettable!

Books I Read in April:

NUMBER 1: Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid: This might be my favorite book of all time. Have you ever read a book, and while you’re reading it, can’t put it down, but feel sad that one day you won’t be able to read it again for the first time? That was this book for me. I flew through it, unfortunately. It is written like an interview in a documentary and is a wildly entertaining story about a music group and their members. Taylor Jenkins Reid is an epic story teller and character creator. I’m pacing myself through her work, because I am such a big fan. 5/5 stars
NUMBER 2: The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose: This book was as good as advertised! It is creepy, heart wrenching, and definitely a page turner! Great read for fall or spring. 5/5 stars
NUMBER 3: Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher: I loved this one so much, I made my book club read it. I love how this was written. Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover wrote this together, switching off every chapter. They tried to challenge each other as they went! It also started as 3 separate short stories, and they combined it to be the novel it is today! I love the romantic part of this and the whole premise. If you like mystery reads as well as fate and destiny questions, this is for you! 4/5 stars

April was overscheduled and SO FUN. Looking back on it now just fills me with gratitude to be able to experience so much and with so many people that I love. Lots of celebrating- beginnings and endings- and that is so fun to look back on!
